Danone North America Earns Top Marks of 100 Percent on Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s Annual Scorecard on LGBTQ Workplace Equality
White Plains, NY & Broomfield, CO (March 28, 2019) – Danone North America announced today that it received a perfect score of 100 on the 2019 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), a leading benchmarking survey and report on corporate policies and practices related to LGBTQ workplace equality, administered by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation.
“From the very beginning of Danone North America, we made a bold commitment to nourish lives, including those of our employees, and sustain a healthier world through food by declaring our priority to become a Certified B Corp by 2020—a milestone we achieved in April 2018, two years ahead of schedule,” said Mariano Lozano, CEO of Danone North America. “Our business is a force for good, balancing our financial interests with the social and environmental benefits we want to create for people, their communities and the planet. We have a deep commitment to inclusive diversity and the many members of our PRIDE employee resource group [ERG] are living proof, in addition to this recognition by HRC.”
Employees of Danone North America appreciate the stronger sense of community and take greater pride in their employer and feel safer in a work environment fostered by an employee-initiated ERG with so many engaged LGBTQ+ and ally employees. One PRIDE ERG member of Danone North America said, “Our HRC equality index score is a shining beacon of how much this PRIDE group was able to accomplish in a very short time – and how important it is to have engagement at all levels of the organization, in order to maximize our impact.”
The 2019 CEI evaluates LGBTQ-related policies and practices including non-discrimination workplace protections, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive health care benefits, competency programs, and public engagement with the LGBTQ community. Danone North America’s efforts in satisfying all of the CEI’s criteria results in a 100 percent ranking and the designation as a Best Place to Work for LGBTQ Equality. The Human Rights Campaign Foundation is the educational arm of America’s largest civil rights organization working to achieve equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual transgender and queer people. HRC envisions a world where LGBTQ people are embraced as full members of society at home, at work and in every community.
